Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

PUT PROSTATE CANCER CHECK-UPS ON THE BACK TO SCHOOL LIST FOR DAD

Prostate Cancer Awareness Month raises educates about the critical importance of early detection in saving men’s lives. LUGPA and Henry Schein Cares, the global corporate social responsibility program of Henry Schein, Inc., are partnering to call on families across the country to put prostate cancer check-ups on the calendar for the men in their lives. While September is back to school time for many families, it is also Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. To increase public awareness about the importance of early detection we launched this initiative.

Did You Know?*

  • One out of six American men (and one out of every four African-American men) will have prostate cancer in their lifetime.
  • Approximately 241,740 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer annually, and 28,170 men will die each year. This makes prostate cancer the second leading cause of cancer death in American men.
  • Prostate check-ups can lead to early detection of the disease, decreasing the death rate by nearly 40 percent since screening began two decades ago.
