2017 Annual Meeting Recap

LUGPA 2017 Annual Meeting Recap

On November 10- 11, 2017, LUGPA welcomed independent urology practices from across the United States to our 2017 Annual Meeting in Chicago.  Our association celebrated record attendance and appreciated increased media coverage. The meeting’s theme, “Pathways to Opportunities in Urology,” reflected our association and of the entrepreneurial spirit of our independent urology practices, as we continue to find new pathways to be successful in preserving and advancing the independent practice of urology.

The information-packed program provided attendees the opportunity to listen to renown experts in the health policy and political arenas, learn about LUGPA’s research efforts on Active Surveillance for prostate cancer, hear more about LUGPA’s progress on Alternative Payment Model (APM) projects, and participate in timely presentations on cyber security and addressing physician burnout.

Steven Levitt, co-author of the best-selling Freakonomics book series, the meeting’s Keynote Speaker, informed and entertained attendees and shared his expert economist views as they related to healthcare.

LUGPA 2017 Annual Meeting offered expanded sessions on health policy, political affairs and LUGPA’s advocacy efforts are designed to keep attendees appraised of the incredibly important work that LUGPA does on behalf of urologist nationwide.

New features to this year’s meeting included a presentation by LUGPA’s own Neal Dunn, MD FACS, a member of Congress who spent his time meeting and discussing healthcare legislation with LUGPA members.
