LUGPA’s History

In 2008, physician leaders of urology practices recognized the need for a formal association to help meet future challenges in independent practice. They established the Large Urology Group Practice Association (LUGPA) to enhance communication among urology groups, promote quality clinical outcomes, and improve legislative and regulatory advocacy.

No longer exclusive to large practices, groups of any size engaged in the independent practice of urology are eligible to join LUGPA. Member practices have access to exclusive, urology-specific resources for practice management, professional education, advocacy, and networking. They are also able to monitor health care outcomes and seek out medical best practices in an era increasingly focused on value-based care.

LUGPA’s goal is to supply integrated urology practices the support and resources necessary to provide efficient, cost-effective, and clinically superior care for patients with acute and chronic illnesses of the genitourinary system. The association also prioritizes data collection and benchmarking to demonstrate quality and value to patients, vendors, third party payors, legislators, and regulatory agencies.
