Chicago, Ill. (November 16, 2017) – Jeffrey Spier MD, was elected to LUGPA’s 2018 Board of Directors at the 2017 Annual Meeting in Chicago, November 10-11.

Dr. Spier has served as the managing partner of Rio Grande Urology in Texas for the past four years. In addition to his new role on the LUGPA board, he is also a board member for both the El Paso Specialty Hospital and the Texas Urological Society.

Spier’s expertise in the treatment and diagnosis of prostate and bladder cancers has been cited in several peer-reviewed publications, including Contemporary Urology and Perinatal Urology. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his work as a urologist and as a teacher from his local community in El Paso and surrounding medical societies, including Best Urologist in 2015 from the El Paso Times.

Dr. Spier has continued to play a role in the organization for the past five years, both as member of LUGPA’s Program Committee, assisting in the formation of the ongoing LUGPA APM project and as a discussant at this year’s annual LUGPA meeting.

“Dr. Spier’s leadership and governing experience will prove advantageous as LUGPA seeks to drive multiple healthcare initiatives forward in the policy arena,” said Celeste Kirschner, Chief Executive Officer, LUGPA. His desire to advance the urologic community at all levels is evident, and we look forward to the passion he will bring to the board.
