Newest LUGPA Benchmark Report Reveals June 2021 The economic strain resulting from the global pandemic posed many challenges for independent urology practices. Congress and the Administration adopted policies to ease the financial pressure, for example waiving the automatic 2% sequestration reduction in traditional Medicare payments, the CARES Act Provider Relief Funds and Payroll Protection Program. 2020 LUGPA Benchmark (Median Value) As expected, the impact of COVID-19 on Urologists is reflected when comparing key statistics for 2020 to the 2019 benchmarks. While surgical case volume decreased due to closure of operating rooms early in the pandemic, the use of telemedicine helped mitigate the decrease in patient volume while sequestration relief softened the impact on practice revenue. 2020 vs 2019 LUGPA Benchmarks (Median Value) *Excludes Provider Relief Funds and Paycheck Protection Program or income not reported in the practice management system. Given the pandemic, it’s crucial that practice administrators and providers focus on reaching their established key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data to benchmark against industry standards. This will help identify top performers or areas of focus to improve operations and thrive in your specialty and the industry. We want to thank all the participating LUGPA practices for their efforts on gathering benchmarking data. There will be a second release of benchmarks this summer which will allow more practices to participate. A webinar featuring highlights and insights gleaned from LUGPA’s Benchmarking Program will be offered after the second release. Click here to learn more about LUGPA Practice Benchmarking program. |
