Chad Chubb, a certified financial planner (CFP®) and certified student loan professional (CSLP®) talks about financial planning for early-career physicians including student loans, buying a home, investing, insurance, retirement and common financial pitfalls that can be avoided. Chad is founder of WealthKeel LLC, a trusted financial planning partner for physicians and their families nationwide. At the end, Chad answers questions sent in by the LUPGA Forward group.

Dr. Johnson Receives 2024 Resident Award

At LUGPA's 2024 Annual Meeting, Dr. Jared Johnson was presented with LUGPA Forward's 2024 Resident Clinical Excellence Award.  He is a fifth year resident at the University of Minnesota and was nominated for the award by his program director Dr. Phillipp Dahm. “There is nobody I could recommend more strongly than Dr. Johnson for this award,” stated Dr. Dahm at the end of his nomination letter.  

Dr. Kari Bailey presented the Award on behalf of the LUGPA Forward Committee. "Jared has done a tremendous amount in the last few years" Dr. Bailey said.  "In his second year he explored new approaches to bladder irrigation to decrease intervention for clot evacuation. He has encouraged the faculty to implement new technology. He led several quality improvement projects and is the “go-to” person for organizing educational sessions and social events for his fellow residents. His attendings commented that his bedside manner is among the best they have ever seen and patients request him by name."  Read more. 

LUGPA Forward Session at 2024 Annual Meeting focused on Leadership and Succession Planning 
At the 2024 LUGPA Annual Meeting, a LUGPA Forward Session was presented, Sustaining Excellence: Leadership and Succession Planning for Urology's Next Generation, where Dr. Albala led a discussion between Dr. Kari Bailey; Katie P. Desiderio, PhD; Alan Winker, MHSA, FACMPE; and Erika Ferrozzo, MHA on sustaining excellence in practices, leadership and succession for urology’s next generation.

Ahead of the 2024 Urology Resident Summit & Job Fair, LUGPA chatted with Kari Bailey, MD, leader of the women’s health department at AAUrology in Annapolis, MD, and current chair of the LUGPA Forward Committee. Also part of the conversation was David Morris, MD, president of Urology Associates in Nashville, TN, former LUGPA Forward Committee co-chair, and one of LUGPA's most recently elected Board members. We sat down with them to discuss their advice for urology residents -  including why to consider independent practice. Read more.

Reviews In Urology, the official journal of LUGPA, announced plans to relaunch in 2024 following a short publishing hiatus. New publisher Specialty Networks will continue the journal’s longstanding focus on cutting-edge urology advances while expanding coverage to feature an even broader range of urological conditions and specialty care concerns. LUGPA Champions Medicare Payment Reform Following Latest CMS Proposal 
LUGPA expresses deep concern over the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) recent proposal to reduce physician reimbursements as part of the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS). This proposal forebodes another significant cut that threatens the financial viability of independent practices and patient access to care.  Read more.
